Top 5 Mental Health Books – 2020 Mid-Year Check-in

Every year, I participate in Good Reads Yearly Reading Challenge, every year with intentions to outdo myself. It reminds me of growing up and participating in the summer reading challenge in school or my local library and submitting my list of books I read to obtain a coveted wheel of free prizes you could redeem from local shops around town.

While there may not be a prize at the end of the challenge on Good Reads, the reward nowadays is knowledge. I’ve learned more than ever these past few years, especially these past two years as I’ve delved heavily into self-help and improving myself as a creator and artist. We don’t have it all and sometimes we need a refresher.

TOP 5 BOOKS FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Below you will find my list of books I’ve read so far that have had a profound impact on my year and mental health, if you guys are curious as to why let me know in the comments below and I’ll create a post dishing it out.

But for now here are some books that I’ve read that are worth a read regardless of where you are in life as a creative or entrepreneur.

Books I’ve read so far – 2020 Mid-Year Check-in

1. The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck by Sarah Knight

2. Get Your Shit Together by Sarah Knight

3. You Do You by Sarah Knight

4. Things No One Can Teach Us by Humble the Poet

5. Stop Doing That Sh*t: End Self-Sabotage and Demand Your Life Back By Gary John Bishop

I’m a firm believer that we don’t know everything and we always have something to learn in this life. And we could all always use a refresher, that is probably my one takeaway when it comes to webinars, there’s always something to be learned.

For me, I’ve found a huge appreciation in straightforward, no-nonsense advice and would have to say the 5 books listed above while they may be by the same author, are worth the read.

Granted, I’ve been relishing in audiobooks, it’s honestly the only way I can read any books nowadays especially when you’re an avid creator like myself.

My absolute favorite I will have to say is Gary John Bishop and I totally recommend the audiobook in his case, because there’s nothing like a Scottish man yelling life advice at you to get your blood pumping and focused into go mode.

I finally got around to reading American Gods by Neil Gaimon which I absolutely loved and appreciate my friend Hank for telling me to read it. It was wonderful and really opened my eyes to Neil Gaiman.

Let me know in the comments below what are some of your favorite books recently, whether they’re fiction or not I’d really love to know.

Stay Awesome,

Alethea
