I love taking Adirondack Winter Photos. Honestly, wintery photos anywhere, considering we live in Florida full-time, it’s always a pleasant treat to visit. This time of year, I’m usually on a plane heading north to visit what I affectionately call the frozen tundra—aka the Adirondacks. But this year, for the first time in a while, that trip just didn’t happen. Life got busy, schedules filled up, and before I knew it, I was still in Florida, watching everyone else post their snowy adventures.
As I was scrolling through my camera roll, I stumbled upon these winter photos from our last trip up to the Adirondacks. I was instantly transported back to the moment I stepped outside into a world where everything was blanketed in white and the temperature read -7°F. It’s wild how your breath can freeze midair and how every sound becomes muffled under layers of snow. There’s a stillness to winter up there that’s both haunting and beautiful.
Don’t get me wrong—it’s an amazing place to visit in the colder months. The Adirondacks have this unique kind of magic that only winter can unlock. Snow-dusted trees, frozen lakes, cozy cabins, and that warm cup of coffee after braving the elements all hit differently. It’s the kind of setting that makes you feel like you’re inside a snow globe.
But as much as I love capturing it all in photos and soaking in the seasonal charm, I’ll be honest: I could never live in that kind of cold full-time. My Floridian bones just aren’t built for it.
This post is more of a visual love letter to winter in the Adirondacks. While I may not have made it up there this year, I hope these images capture the feeling of standing in the quiet of a snowy forest—bundled up, wide-eyed, and in awe.
Until next time, winter. I’ll enjoy you through the lens this year—wrapped in a blanket, hot chocolate in hand.
