Route of Flavor: Generation 305 Poetry (2026)
Our poem Route of Flavor earned second place in Generation 305 in April 2026, leading to an invitation to recite the piece at O, Miami's Nuestros Quince / Everyone's Quince celebration.
In April 2026, our poem Route of Flavor earned second place in Generation 305, a recognition that celebrated our creative expression and connection to South Florida’s vibrant cultural identity.
Through poetry, Route of Flavor explores the relationship between food, culture, memory, and place. The title reflects the many flavors, traditions, and experiences that shape the South Florida community, where different backgrounds and histories come together to create something uniquely local. The poem uses the familiar language of food and flavor as a way to explore identity, belonging, and the experiences that connect us.
Following our second-place recognition, we were invited to recite Route of Flavor at O, Miami’s Nuestros Quince / Everyone’s Quince event at 94th Aero Squadron. The opportunity to share our work aloud brought the poem beyond the written page and into a live community celebration. It was an opportunity to connect with an audience through spoken word and celebrate the stories, traditions, and cultural influences that make South Florida such a distinctive place.
This experience represented more than a placement in a poetry competition. It was an opportunity to have our creative work recognized, share our voices with the community, and participate in a larger celebration of local culture and artistic expression.
Route of Flavor reflects the power of poetry to bring people together through shared experiences, familiar traditions, and the stories that make a community feel like home.
